Inspiration comes from many places. 'Alive at 5' started while anchoring the 5 p.m. news and reading a story about an adventure vacation in Florida where something went wrong. I remember turning to my co-anchor at the time and saying, “That would make a great setting for a novel!” My co-anchor loved the idea and so it began. We brainstormed possible plots during our commercial breaks (Thanks Walt!). I also figured putting a romance in the middle of a skydiving drop zone might actually bring some men into my fan club, as well. Lots of testosterone in this book! As far as the F-16 ride in 'Alive at 5,' watch where my inspiration came from. This was an E-ticket baby! Anyone my age will know what that means. If you don’t, no worries. Strap yourself in for this once in a lifetime ride.
